Football Meatloaf Season!

Here we are smack dab in the middle of football season! Sure it is fall and that is our main season, but let's call Football Season a "sub-season" and celebrate that too! We all need things to cheer for! We all need things to cheer us! Rah rah sis boom bah! How about making this recipe from "The Secret Life of Food" before the big game!

Football Meatloaf

2 lbs. ground turkey (dark meat)

1 cup bread crumbs

1/3 cup milk

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 eggs

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper


½ cup yellow mustard

¾ cup ketchup

1 Tbs. Brown sugar

1 white onion cut in half and sliced


1. Preheat oven to 375°. Place a piece of tinfoil on a rimmed baking sheet. 2. Mix all ingredients (except for sauce ingredients) together in a large mixing bowl using your very clean hands. 3. Move mixture to the baking sheet and mold into a football shape. 4. Mix sauce ingredients together and pour on top of football, using a spatula to cover the ball. 5. Bake in oven for 1 hour 15 minutes. 6. Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes. Carefully transfer football to serving dish and place onion slices on the football in a stitching pattern.
