Stamp It!

Tiny Treasures!

Tiny Treasures!

I am a member of a Pen Pal Club. I get together with some nice folks occasionally and we write letters and talk about stationery and stamps and the magic of mail. Margaret of Paper Pastries is our fearless leader so you know its an official operation! This weekend we took a field trip to the Vintage Paper Fair. Lots of postcards and stationery and posters from the olden days. The star attraction for me was a few boxes of old stamps at a very friendly guy's booth. We parked it there for a good long time digging through old stamps- Ohh-ing and Awww-ing and trading and swapping. I got obsessed with different Olympics stamps through the years and bought a tiny pile of those. I also found one single Peter Max stamp from the 70's that is a tiny treasure. Lots of space stamps and beautiful messages about Rural America, Soil Conservation and Energy saving. And a few pink flowery stamps that might be the prettiest stamps I have ever imagined. I struck it stamp rich! And now for the fun part-using the stamps on letters! They are all usable as long as they add up to the proper postage. To send a letter is about to cost  you 49 cents (rate change starts January 26th!)  which means I have to use quite a few of my new old stamps. Oh the combinations that will happen over here! One Pharmacy stamp (depicting a real potion being made) plus a few owl stamps equals my own version of Harry Potter postage! Maybe the cheerful Walt Disney plus a few coral reef beauties to stamp a birthday card? SO FUN. Want to be my pen pal??
