It is King Cake season!!!!!!! Starting at Epiphany, running through Mardi Gras season, and ending at Lent, you can have a King Cake! Oh the joy this brings to me! New Orleans' King Cake is a cinnamon brioche type cake in a circular shape decorated with purple, green and gold sugar. A plastic baby or ceramic figure is baked inside the cake and whoever gets the piece of cake with this treasure has to get the next King Cake. Oh its festive! Oh its fun! This tradition marks your days in a sweet way and brightens up the dark chilly days of January and February. Even if you are not lucky enough to live in the celebratory state of Louisiana you can still enjoy this tradition. These fine bakeries will fedex a King Cake to your door wherever you live: Gambino's, Haydel's, Sucre, and Randazzo's. I have had them all. Yum. Yay.
